This cup is made on the potter's wheel. Once the cup is formed, it is faceted by slicing away at the side walls.

After firing it once, the inside of the cup is glazed with a food safe, durable glaze, while the outside is sprayed with a combination of glazes, slips and ash in an attempt to emulate the surface of wood fired ceramics within the constraints of an oxidation kiln.
Intense sanding ensures that the tea bowl is extremely smooth to touch and the earth tone palette gives this one of a kind cup shop, a rather rustic warmth.

This cup sits wonderfully in one's cupped hands making for a very intimate experience.
And like most of my pieces, this cup, fired to 2167 F, is dishwasher safe and great for everyday use and only grows in beauty and value with repeated use.
