The Cambridge Glass Company was opened shop in 1902 in Cambridge, Ohio, for the purpose of securing a new industry for the citizens of the city. During the first years of production, the Cambridge Glass Company used molds from other glass companies to produce typical glassware of the period: table sets, jugs, bowls, molasses jugs, jars, tumblers, and lamps. In 1904, the first original Cambridge line, "Radium", was designed and produced. By 1920, the trend was away from heavy pressed and imitation cut glass and toward lighter pressed and blown ware. In 1922, a new trade mark, the letter "C" enclosed in a triangle was introduced. During the early to mid 1920's, a variety of opaque colors were brought into the Cambridge line however in the late 1920's, transparent colors became very popular including complete dinnerware sets both plain and etched. The original Cambridge Glass Company ceased operations in 1954.

Vaseline Glass is a specific color of yellow-green glass made by adding as little as 0.1% to 0.2% Uranium Dioxide to the glass formula. Vaseline Glass is verifiable because the glass turns bright florescent green under an ultraviolet (black) light. Vaseline Glass was primarily made from 1840 until WWII when the US government confiscated all supplies of uranium until lifting the ban in 1958.

This gorgeous yellow-green Cambridge Glass Company Vaseline Glass Cleo Pattern Decagonal Curved Candy Dish with Handles was made in the 1920's to 1930's before WWII. The candy dish contains the "C" enclosed in a triangle trademark on the base confirming the maker. This candy dish which measures 2.5" tall at each handle, 0.5" tall at the base, 7.0" at the widest point, 5.5" between the two handles, and has a 3.25" diameter base is in excellent condition with no scratches, chips, or cracks. In fact, the candy dish appears to have never been used, only displayed. This rare Cambridge Glass Company Vaseline Glass Cleo Pattern Decagonal Curved Candy Dish with Handles would make a wonderful addition to any collection of vintage depression glass!
