This is a 1” silver pendant that is an impression of a 400 BC Greek coin Drachma. On each side of the bee is the Greek letter Epsilon and Phi which is the symbols for the city of Ephesus.
Ephesus was an important center of worship of the Greek goddess Artemis, and the images on Ephesian coinage represent her. Originally the bee was the symbol of an early Anatolian goddess who the Greeks later identified with Artemis. The two Greek letters, epsilon and phi, on either side of the bee are an abbreviation for shop Ephesus.
