Viking bowl fibula from Morberg in Jelling style
 
This beautiful bowl primer was shop made after an original of the 10th century, which comes from Morberg in southern Norway. It was cast from bronze and elaborately polished.
In the Viking Age, they were worn by women in pairs on the front below the shoulders and served to attach the dress and apron together. 
 
On the back there is a sturdy needle, which also carries thicker fabrics.
 
The primers were made in the typical Jelling style. Its distribution period extends from the beginning of the 10th century to about 975. Typical of this style are figures such as humans and animals, plant representations such as tendrils and leaves, as well as geometric figures such as circles, triskeles, spirals, etc.
