1882 Dinner in Danger - shop Large Rare Antique Victorian Colour Lithograph Print - John Charles Dollman - Christmas Dinner - Dogs - Snow Winter
A very beautiful rare colour lithograph antique print from 1882 (date at bottom right, not shown in photo) called "The Christmas Dinner in Danger," by John Charles Dollman. It shows a little girl carrying a feast, surrounded by shop excited dogs. Despite the title, it is by no means a scene particular to Christmas, but rather, a winter scene of a young girl gingerly carrying a hot feast. This print was in the special 1882 Christmas Number of The Graphic. There is printing en verso. The Graphic was a British weekly illustrated newspaper with immense influence on the art world. Vincent van Gogh was a particular fan.
In very good condition. No creases, scuffs, or bends.
Size of image: approx. 8.7 inches x 11.75 inches (approx. 22.5 cm. x 30 cm)
This is an original from 1882, not a reproduction! Bananastrudel sells only originals.
